Apparently I Have a Western Accent
Who knew there was even such a thing?! Guess I morph into whatever location I'm currently in. If I had taken this test as a junior higher, I would have had a southern accent; as a high schooler, a northern one.

Hmmm...it's just as I thought. I'm neutral. It does give the Illinois/Indiana/Ohio region as my possible orgin (which it is) but I am American. That makes sense, because the accent from that region is the "newspeak" accent that all reporters are supposed to use. And a former speech teacher should have a neutral accent, right?
I always told my Cali students they had an accent, but they never believed me. Let's just say that "peel" is not pronounced "pell." I've never pelled an apple, have you??
Heh! I've never pelled an apple, either. I would have thought I'd be a "neutral," that all my traveling around would have wiped any trace of accent away.
Hey, I was a neutral too, although the region was the Illinois/Indiana/Ohio region, and I have spent a good deal of time in that area! I had to laugh though--the map also includes Western PA in that area, and let me tell you, if anywhere in the U.S. has an accent, it is Western PA! Bob's family is from there, and they speak so differently there! Fun quiz! I posted the results on my blog, but the map never would come through. They must have had an error in their code that I copied and pasted, but I would never be able to find it, LOL!
Mine had an error, too, but Blogger showed a big red-lettered note at the top saying there was a problem with (some tag), and I just tried deleting it to see what would happen. It had something to do with what font it was, I believe. It worked!
I was neutral too. And I grew up in Colorado and have lived on the West Coast since high school. Hmmmm. Interesting quiz.
